The
Community Resource Officer (CRO) operates under the supervision of Commander
Julie Bain. The CRO Division has one officers; Officer Curtis Phillip.
The CRO office is located in the Mansfield Police Department Public
Safety Building; 1305 East Broad Street. The Community Resource Officer
is the arm of the Department that accomplishes community involvement

Bike Rodeo "Family"
Program Not Currently Scheduled
The Bicycle Rodeo is a fun way to educate children on bike and rider safety.
The purpose is to increase awareness of traffic safety for both adults and
children as well as to teach children about bike safety issues. Participants
are asked to bring their bike (or tricycle) and a helmet. Youth participants
will need a parental permission
slip signed at the event. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate
also.

Finger Printing
Finger Printing scheduled privately to groups/schools
The Community Resource Division utilizes the Child Finger
Printing Program along with a Child Identifying Program to aid in parents
to identify their child with picture, description, and finger prints.
The program is usually available at every city function;
but can be requested for special events through the Community Resource Division.

Citizen Police Academy
Coming in January 4, 2009
The purpose behind the CPA is to build a better
understanding of the police department's functions. The academy classes
fill up quickly upon the starting of a new class. A vast amount of time
has been put into the CPA course and all of the classes are taught by police
officers themselves. The officers teaching the course are all certified
instructors by the State of Texas.

Escape
School/Stranger Danger
Classes scheduled privately to groups/schools.
Taught in conjunction with the Stranger Danger program,
this program teaches methods for children to use if someone does actually
try to abduct them.
"Every 15 Minutes"
Program at Mansfield High School on May
21 and 22, 2008
It
is a DWI education program that teaches juniors and seniors in high school
what the consequences could be should they choose to drink and drive.
The program name was derived from the statistic
that every 15 minutes in the U.S. somebody is injured/killed from a DWI
wreck.

Coming in October 2008
Fall Festival is a cooperative effort coordinated by the Mansfield Police
Department to provide a safe affordable alternative for families. Most activities
are provided free of charge. Others are provided at minimal cost such as
the hay ride, food booths, and some jump rides(to cover expenses) so that
there is something for everyone.

National Night Out is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
2. Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts;
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized
and fighting back!

Police Department Summer Kids Camp
Next camp will be in the summer of 2008
The
summer day camp is for kids going into 6th through 8th grades. Our focus
for these young people is team building, communication skills and building
their self-esteem. The kids participate in activities each day that worked
towards these three attributes. The interaction between this age groups
and the police department is also beneficial in building a trust with law
enforcement.

Drinking
24 hour hotline 1(888)843-8222
The
Mansfield Police Department, in cooperation with the Texas Alcohol Beverage
Commission is utilizing a new hotline established to target underage drinking.
The new hotline will be offered to Texas citizens to report underage drinking
violations, including minors drinking at parties, underage drinking and
driving, and adults providing alcohol to minors.
