Chief Steven P. Noonkester
November 28, 2007

Mansfield Public Safety Director "Chief" Steven Noonkester died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from complications after surgery.

Chief Noonkester, 60, was the City of Mansfield's highest ranking law enforcement official, serving both the police and fire departments. He has served as the city's police chief since 1995 and was named Director of Public Safety in 2005. He joined the Mansfield Police Department in 1989 as a patrol officer and was promoted to sergeant in 1990 and lieutenant in 1994.

Prior to joining Mansfield, Chief Noonkester was with the Fort Worth Police Department.

This is a tremendous loss to the City of Mansfield. Average citizens will never know what this man gave to our community. Anyone who ever worked in police or fire, however does. There wasn't a job or task that he would have the police or fire departments do that he wouldn't do himself. Chief Noonkester was and is a true leader.
