Reserve Officer

The Department currently has a Reserve Unit which consists of volunteers from the community who assist the department in various capacities. The officers of this unit are not employees of the city, but nevertheless have taken the trouble to attend police training academies and pass the licensing exam of TCLEOSE. They are licensed Peace Officers and sworn members of the Department, who are provided uniforms, but purchase and maintain most of their equipment and must keep up with their own continuing education requirements.

The Unit has been a tremendous benefit to the Department during city and community events by directing traffic, manning stationary posts, and patrolling in order to assist regular patrol officers. When the city had the unfortunate circumstance to be hit by a tornado in 2001, the reserve officers were there to help support the Department in maintaining order and assisting citizens.

Reserve Division is supervised by Reserve Sergeant T. Roach who reports directly to Reserve Commander T. Aaron. Commander T. Aaron reports directly to Deputy Chief Bennett. Reserve Division currently has 3 Reserve Officers.
