Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer

The Department purchased a Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer (SMART) in 2001. The SMART is a portable, self-contained speed display unit and public relations tool. It measures and displays the speeds of approaching vehicles, while also displaying the speed limit for that particular location. It has been widely acclaimed by the community.

The need for the SMART is highly requested by citizens throughout the city. To request for the SMART to be placed in an area within the city please send a e-mail or contact the Day Shift Sergeant or the Police Department by phone. Please include within the request by e-mail the location, the time of occurrence, and the reason the SMART is needed for that area.

Sometimes a traffic complaint doesn't always consist of a speeding violation. To make a complaint about a specific traffic problem that may or may not involve speed can be sent by e-mail to the Traffic Sergeant or contact the Police Department by phone. Please include the location, the traffic violation(s), and the time of occurrence.
